FIRST ARTICLE AND DIMENSIONAL INSPECTION

First articles and dimensional inspections are the most common service provided by A2LA accredited inspection labs. At QCIS, all inspectors are ASQ certified to the inspector or technician levels. This level of knowledge along with QCIS service is what customers have come to expect from an A2LA lab.

COMPUTER-AIDED INSPECTION

Computer-Aided Inspection (CAI, sometimes called Computer-Aided Verification, CAV) is a cost-effective way of performing a first article inspection. The data is captured in one of several ways, such as laser scanning, and compared back to the original CAD model using a color map. One of the benefits of this process is the ability to focus inspection resources on “trouble areas” and not investing time inspecting features that are in print.

SOURCE/CONTAINMENT INSPECTION

Our inspection services can be performed at your facility or at ours. Because of our thousands of contacts in the industry, QCIS is able to respond quickly to containment needs. On-site source inspection also brings value by expediting product through the customer’s receiving process once QCIS has approved it at the supplier’s site.

VISUAL INSPECTION & SORTING

While QC Inspection Services is an A2LA accredited lab, certified to ISO 17025 it is, at the same time, very competitive on visual inspection and sorting projects. This work is performed by inspectors at a lower cost, experienced in visual inspection activities. Some of the inspectors are actually part of our 6000-hour apprenticeship program, progressing to top-level inspection or engineering skills. A wide breadth of skill levels allows QCIS to offer support in all aspects of quality services to meet each of your individual needs.

CAPABILITY STUDIES AND STATISTICAL ANALYSIS

A capability study can be one of your best problem-solving tools (see “Tips on Performing a Process Capability Study"). QCIS offers support in planning your study as well has the dimensional evaluation of your sample parts. We will provide a statistical analysis of your results so that you can begin to work on root causes.

MOLD EVALUATIONS

A physical evaluation of the tool is often the best way to detect a problem with your part. Mold components can be fully scanned or CMM inspected to the detail you require.

3D LASER SCANNING

Scanning is the best way of rapidly capturing full geometries. QCIS has extensive experience in both laser scanning and white light scanning of complex surfaces (see more information on 3D Scanning). These methods are used for reverse engineering and as a more cost-effective way of performing first article inspections.
